Since Wednesday, the city has been under the influence of a dangerous heat wave. According to forecasts, the air temperature can reach +44°C by Saturday. Currently, the readings of thermometers in the city are approaching +38°C. As a result of abnormally high temperature, the asphalt in some streets of the city has started to melt. The road surface has softened so much that it is possible to damage it even by hand.
To mitigate the effects of the heat, city officials have opened special "cooling centers," air-conditioned spaces in libraries, community centers, and other public buildings.
