Vice Admiral Arya Shafqat Rudsari, commander of the Imam Khomeini Naval University in Nowshahri, announced that the Iranian Navy has deployed its 100th fleet in the Gulf of Aden to strengthen maritime trade security in the region, IRNA news agency reported.
Speaking to reporters at the 3rd National Conference on New Maritime Technologies in Antarctic Research, Vice Admiral Shafqat Rudsari said that this move is a response to the presence of pirates in the region and aims to ensure the security of sea routes, both in terms of export and import, and not only Iran. For the Islamic Republic, but also for the whole world.
According to him, as a landlocked country, although the authorities have taken measures to utilize the existing opportunities in this area, the efforts being made are not enough and more steps are needed to improve the conditions.
At the same time, he stated that Iran's presence in Antarctica is inevitable, emphasizing its importance and called on all scientific, academic and research centers to cooperate to encourage scientists and researchers to participate in this field.
