The victory of Donald Trump will have serious consequences in many international issues, including in our region. A few days before the elections, he promised to protect Armenians from Azerbaijan's encroachments. However, after being elected, Trump will probably forget this promise, as other US presidents have done in the past. God forbid I'm wrong.
Armenia will also be strongly and directly affected by Trump's steps regarding the ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East. Will he really reduce the military aid provided by the USA to Ukraine and thereby contribute to the interruption of the Russian-Ukrainian war?
What kind of peace will be acceptable for the USA in Ukraine, its Vice President Vance hinted. According to him, the war should stop where the front line passes at the moment, and then negotiations should begin. Is this Trump's peace plan or another scenario? Trump himself was rather vague about this issue.
But it seems that Ukraine under Trump will still be deprived of the enormous support it received from the Biden administration (to date, about 66 billion dollars in military aid). What will Trump do about the ongoing genocide of Palestinians in Gaza?
Will it support Israel and give a green light to Netanyahu's further crimes, which will inevitably lead to a major war with Iran, that is, the explosion of the entire Middle East, the cessation of oil flows from the Persian Gulf and, accordingly, the largest global economic crisis? Trump's latest statements (in particular, about his desire to visit Tehran) seem to give hope that he will try to prevent such tragic developments.
But, on the other hand, Trump has always been much more pro-Israel than Biden and Obama. The situation in this matter is quite unclear. It can only be assumed that it will not be beneficial for Trump to deal with the great war and financial and economic devastation in the Middle East since the beginning of his presidency.
He wants to focus mainly on the solution of difficult internal problems of the USA. Therefore, it is more likely that Trump will try to restrain Israel and practically promote a ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon. Trump's policy towards Europe, NATO and China also raises many questions.
He won't pull the US out of NATO, as some European analysts feared, but he appears likely to force Europe to spend more on its own security, thereby easing US military spending. Trump's policy towards millions of immigrants. He promised to deport those people en masse.
To what extent? Trump's clear stance towards traditional family values will be one of the positive developments. But to what extent he will succeed in this life and death struggle against the hardened globalist system is again unknown. In short, we will live and see.
In any case, Armenia should not have high hopes for Trump. He could have helped Armenia during the 44-day war when he was the acting president, but, unfortunately, he didn't do anything. Ensuring our security is our task.
