As a result of the joint measures, the employees of the Investigation and Operational Intelligence Department of the SRC and the National Security Service received regular operational data within the framework of the enhanced control over cash transported through the air and land borders of the Republic of Armenia. According to these data, Russian citizen R.T. was going to arrive in the Republic of Armenia from the Russian Federation, and he was going to transport a particularly large amount of money with him in cash. This is reported by the SRC.
In order to realize the information, operative and investigative measures were urgently taken. As a result, after arriving in the Republic of Armenia the other day, R. was found at Zvartnots airport. T., who had 65 million in cash. Russian ruble, which is equivalent to about 321 million Armenian drams.
Based on the existence of a reasonable suspicion of committing a crime, the employees of the Investigation and Operational Intelligence Department of the RA SRC arrested the Russian citizen from "Zvartnots" airport and transferred him to the Investigation and Operational Intelligence Department of the SRC.
Apparently, a report with the features of the crime was submitted to the main department of the investigation of economic crimes and smuggling of the RA Investigative Committee. The arrested person was also presented to the investigative committee. According to the relevant article of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, criminal proceedings were initiated in the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia, and house arrest was chosen as a preventive measure against R.T.
It is noteworthy that a large cash sum of 7.6 million Russian rubles, which is around 37 million, was also found with RT's relative H.T., a citizen of the Russian Federation, who arrived in Armenia a day later. It is equivalent to AMD. The latter was also arrested from "Zvartnots" Airport on the basis of a reasonable suspicion of having committed a crime under the relevant article of the RA Criminal Code and was transferred to the Committee's Investigation and Operational Intelligence Department, then to the Investigative Committee, where criminal proceedings were initiated under the relevant article of the RA Criminal Code and house arrest was chosen for H.T.
The SRC investigation and operational intelligence department will continue the enhanced control over the cash funds transported through the air and land borders of the Republic of Armenia and for this purpose urges the citizens to transfer the funds from abroad to the Republic of Armenia through legal financial institutions and to avoid transporting them in cash to the Republic of Armenia by illegal means.
