A bear attacked a villager's livestock in Hermon settlement, causing considerable damage.

Today, April 27, an emergency happened in Vayots Dzor region. At around 10:00 a.m., in the Hermon settlement of Yeghegis extended community, a bear attacked the livestock of a villager, causing considerable damage.

The victim, 32-year-old Virab Ghazaryan, told the Shamshyan.com reporter in detail that the incident happened in the morning hours, when the family, like every day, took the cattle out of the barn.

"Every morning, we take the cattle out to the nearby mountain or valley to clean the barn. We did the same today. After a short time, my father noticed that a bear had attacked the cattle in the valley. He immediately called our dog for help, after which the bear ran away," the villager said.

After the incident, family members approached the herd and found out that the 2-year-old bull was seriously injured and died. The villager immediately called 112, the rescuers arrived at the scene and recorded the incident.

However, as the victim states, the problem is not limited to this one case. According to him, such attacks have become regular in the village, and compensation for damages is not provided.

"This is not the first case, and unfortunately it will not be the last. We suffer from bears all the time. they harm livestock, beehives, break trees, there were even cases when they harmed people. But when we apply to the relevant structures, we get the same answer: no compensation is planned," he says.

The villager also expresses dissatisfaction with the environmental policy, expressing the opinion that there are serious problems in the control of wild animals.

"These animals seem to be no longer able to find food in the forest on their own and enter villages causing damage. Meanwhile, we bear the consequences", he emphasizes.

According to Virab Ghazaryan's calculations, as a result of this incident, around 350 thousand drams of damage was caused to him. According to him, they bought the cattle on credit in order to ensure the family's income.

The affected villager calls on the responsible structures to review the policy and support the villagers. "If there will be no compensation, it turns out that the peasant is completely left to the whims of luck."
