On April 16, an emergency situation was created in Vayots Dzor marz. Around 7:00 p.m., the 112 operational control center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia received an alert that a rockfall occurred on the 149 km section of the Yerevan-Jermuk highway, as a result of which the road was completely closed.
As shamshyan.com reports, 1 combat unit arrived from the Vaik fire rescue squad of the Vayots Dzor regional rescue department of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs rescue service. The patrols of the 2nd company of the Vayots Dzor Marz Battalion of the Patrol Service of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs also arrived promptly. The rescuers, together with the patrols and citizens, with the help of equipment, removed the stones from the roadway and made it passable.
According to preliminary information, there were no casualties, but iron barriers were also damaged as a result of the rock fall.
