As a result of the closure of Kuwait's airspace since February 28, around 33 citizens of the Republic of Armenia applied to the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia for the purpose of repatriation. This was reported by Ani Badalyan, spokesperson of the RA Foreign Ministry.
The Embassy of the Republic of Armenia assisted 33 citizens of the Republic of Armenia in Kuwait in obtaining an entry permit to Saudi Arabia.
From March 14 to 16, a group of Armenian citizens, 16 people, who stayed in Kuwait since February 28, returned to Armenia from Kuwait via Hafar al-Batin airport in Saudi Arabia to Istanbul and Tbilisi. During that time in Kuwait, the Kuwaiti "Jazeera" airline, which also organized the return of the RA citizens, took care of their overnight stay and food.
On March 17-18, the RA Embassy in Kuwait supported the return of 9 more citizens of Armenia via the Kuwait-Riyadh-Tbilisi-Yerevan route. Accompanied by the RA Ambassador to Kuwait, Arsen Arakelyan, 9 citizens in Kuwait left for Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. Ground passenger transportation was provided free of charge by the RA Embassy. A group of YSU students was also among them.
One of the RA citizens left Kuwait by his preferred route, 2 are planning to return to RA and 5 chose not to leave Kuwait. Discussions are underway with the Kuwaiti "Jazeera" airline in order to carry out the Saudi Arabia-Tbilisi flight.
