Armen Ashotyan, RPA vice-chairman, writes:
"Although the political news of the day continues to be mainly focused on current events or PR-shows, I will continue to make efforts in the direction of the deeper agendas of the existing problems. And so, the annual report of the V-dem Institute on democracy in the world was published yesterday, which once again records the decline of democracy in Armenia.
At one time, these were such important reports for Nikol that he even publicly mentioned and referred to partial evaluations that were beneficial to him. Now he is silent, because even in the case of favorable geopolitical winds, it is not possible to hide the ongoing dictatorship of the country. And one of its regular manifestations was the ridiculous political persecution of Armin Ohanyan.
Nikol looks like a drug addict, whose western handlers advise him to ease the pressure (using house arrests instead of prisons and other "reliefs"), but he, for one, simultaneously "pulls his nose" at the adrenaline of new political pursuits. Let me return to the report. I have already said that, for example, according to the "liberal democracy index", Armenia fell 10 places within a year, from 76th to 86th. And now look at the attached slide, according to which Armenia is the 6th in the world in the strength of the decline of democracy.
Nikol, congratulations. But there is still room to improve as a dictator, make an effort to be in the top three dictators. You can. It remains for us not to allow it."
