Eight people were killed in an explosion at a biotech factory in northern China's Shanxi province. China Central Television reported the incident on Sunday.
"On the morning of February 7, the explosion that took place at the facility belonging to the Jiapeng Biotechnology Company in Shanyin District of Shuozhou City took the lives of eight people," according to "RIA Novosti", the TV channel reported.
The company's legal representative has been arrested, and a special investigative team is working at the scene to find out the cause of the incident.
The cause of the explosion and the number of people in the factory at the time of the explosion have not yet been released.
