On October 18, 2023, the General Prosecutor's Office informed that Hasmik Poghosyan, who held the position of RA Minister of Culture in 2012-2016, using his official powers to the detriment of state interests, assisted the criminal group to fraudulently steal the 300 square meter area separated from the plot of land granted free of charge to "Yerevan Secondary Music School named after P. Tchaikovsky".
Let's remind that within the framework of the civil case regarding the above-mentioned area, the ownership right of the area of 235.8 square meters from the complex built at 36/3 Koghbatsi Street in Yerevan was transferred to the Republic of Armenia. On September 27, 2023, the prosecutor initiated a public criminal prosecution against Hasmik Poghosyan. On October 4, 2023, the part regarding the former RA Minister of Culture was separated and handed over to the Anti-Corruption Court.
According to the verdict of the Anti-Corruption Criminal Court on November 6, 2025, Hasmik Poghosyan was found guilty of abusing his official position, aiding in particularly large-scale fraud, and was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison. the court act entered into legal force today.
According to the aforementioned decision of the Anti-Corruption Criminal Court, the accused Hasmik Poghosyan was released from punishment. Article 2, Part 1, Clause 2 of the RA Law "On the 2800th anniversary of the founding of Erebuni-Yerevan and the 100th anniversary of the declaration of independence of the First Republic of Armenia" entered into force on November 6, 2018.
