An Armenia-France friendship room was opened at the UN office in Geneva


On October 31, in Geneva, at the office of the United Nations, the ceremonial opening of the Armenia-France friendship room took place.

One of the working rooms of the UN, where international meetings and events are held, will bear this name from now on. In this regard, the great works of painter Zhan Poghosyan were placed in the room, one of them symbolizes Armenia, the other France.
At the entrance of the room, a memorial monument authored by Zhan Poghosyan was placed, on the pedestal of which it was written in Armenian and French that it was dedicated to the friendship between Armenia and France. All artworks have been donated to the United Nations Office in Geneva for permanent display.

Chairman of the State and Legal Affairs Committee of the RA National Assembly, Head of the Armenian-French Parliamentary Friendship Group Vladimir Vardanyan, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Armenia Andranik Hovhannisyan, Chairman of the France-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group, Senator Gilbert-Luc Devina, Permanent Representative of France Jerome Bonafon made opening remarks at the ceremony. , General Director of the UN Geneva Office Tatiana Valovaya and artist Zhan Poghosyan. Congratulating on this significant event, the speakers emphasized that the naming of such a room in the UN building is an important symbol of Armenia's sovereignty.

References were made to the history of Armenia, independence, centuries-old Armenian-French ties and expanding cooperation.

Many ambassadors accredited in Geneva, diplomats, members of the Swiss Armenian community, public figures, representatives of culture and science were present at the event.
