Poland will transfer MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine within a year

Poland will transfer decommissioned Soviet MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine by the end of 2026. Cezary Tomczyk, Deputy Minister of Defense of Poland, announced this on the air of "Radio Zet".

"It is a matter of months. Will it be this year? Yes, I think it will definitely happen this year. I would say that the broadcasting of MIGs should take place this year," Tomchik answered the question on behalf of the radio host.
As the representative of the Republic's Ministry of Defense explained, this requires a government decision, as well as the transfer of UAV production and countermeasures technologies from Ukraine to Poland.

A day ago, Polish Deputy Minister of Defense Pawel Zalewski announced that Warsaw is ready to transfer up to nine MiG-29 fighter jets to Kiev. He explained that negotiations are underway with the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine regarding the technical details of the transfer.

In December, Tomczyk announced Poland's plans to transfer six to eight MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine, which Poland was to decommission by the end of 2025. A total of 14 aircraft of this type were planned to be withdrawn from the Polish Air Force.
