Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Oman have "made a significant diplomatic effort" to convince US President Donald Trump not to attack Iran and to give Tehran "an opportunity to show good intentions", Agence France-Presse reported, citing a Saudi official.
He said that the three countries warned Washington of "serious consequences for the region" in case of escalation of tensions. He added that "negotiations are ongoing in order to strengthen the trust gained and maintain a positive attitude."
Trump previously warned that he was seriously considering the possibility of using force against the Islamic Republic.
