The trials of some participants in the riots in Iran will be open

The head of Iran's judiciary, Gholam Hossein Mohseni-Ejei, has promised to hold open trials against some of the main participants in the armed unrest in the Islamic Republic.

"We intend to take measures to ensure that the trials of some of the key figures in the recent riots are held in public and their proceedings are covered in the media," Mehr news agency quoted Mohseni-Ejei as saying.

According to the agency, the head of the judicial system of the Islamic Republic has already personally visited one of Tehran's prisons, where he spent five hours "studying the situation and the cases of detainees".

Yesterday, the Iranian police announced that the security forces arrested about 300 people who are accused of participating in massacres and attacks on law enforcement officers.
