Afghanistan does not accept the presence of any foreign military contingent on its territory, including US claims regarding the Bagram airbase, said Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesman of the Afghan government, in an interview with "RIA Novosti".
"The Bagram air base is an integral part of the territory of Afghanistan, we will not allow the military of another state to be in the territory of Afghanistan.
This issue concerns not only our leadership, but is also a sensitive topic for the entire nation. We have expressed this position many times, and the Americans are well aware of it," the official said.
In September last year, US President Donald Trump threatened Afghanistan with "bad" consequences if it refused to hand over Bagram to US control.
