Pezeshkian called on the Iranian security forces to show maximum restraint

Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian has called on the security forces to show maximum restraint towards the protestors who are carrying out the action, which has been going on for more than 10 days throughout the country.

"Any violent action or coercion should be avoided, dialogue and peaceful communication should be pursued, and the demands of the Iranian people should be taken into account," the politician said in a statement broadcast on Al-Arabi TV.

On January 8, large-scale demonstrations took place in Tehran, Tabriz and Mashhad. In the capital, protesters gathered on Ayatollah Kashani Avenue and Yousefabad and Azadi districts.

They chanted anti-government slogans and demanded improved living conditions. The foreign opposition, led by the former shah's son Prince Reza Pahlavi, called for more strikes and demonstrations on Thursday.
