Iranian authorities shut down the Internet amid protests. mass media

The Internet connection is disabled all over Iran amid protests, according to the NetBlocks international internet monitoring service.

"Real-time data shows that Iran is currently under a nationwide internet blackout," the service said in a post on social media.

According to the service, this followed a number of other measures "aimed at countering the protests taking place across the country."

The service reported earlier that the Internet connection was disrupted during protests in the Iranian city of Kermanshah. NetBlocks later added that the capital Tehran and other parts of the country were also in a "digital blackout".
