Conscious and systematic blasphemy. The leader of Aragatsotn Diocese about the events of Talin

Invading the holy place, violating the church order and openly ignoring the spiritual authority not only contradicts the RA Constitution and the law, but also indicates a serious disruption of state thinking. Referring to the events taking place around the Church of the Holy Mother of God in Tallinn, in a statement issued by the "Nubarashen" prison, the leader of the diocese of Aragatsotn, Mkrtich Bishop Proshyan, who has been in prison since October 2025, said this.

As we have reported, on December 31st, the order of the blessing of the fire to be performed by the clergy in the Church of the Holy Theotokos in Tallinn was obstructed by the head of the Tallinn community, Tavros Sapeyan, and the disbanded former local clergyman, Aramayis Takhmazyan.

"This is an example of street pressure, provocation and aggression against spiritual values, which destroys public solidarity and endangers the foundations of the legal state," said the head of the diocese.
He noted that this operation, organized by Tallinn mayor Tavros Sapeyan and rioter Aramayis Takhmazyan, and carried out under the direct patronage of law enforcement agencies, is a gross illegality, a dangerous manifestation of government arbitrariness and anti-church thinking, when blasphemy and violence are tried to be presented as a "legal action".

"Invading the holy place, violating the church order and openly ignoring the spiritual authority not only contradicts the RA Constitution and the law, but also indicates a serious disruption of state thinking. This is an example of street pressure, provocation and aggression against spiritual values, which destroys public solidarity and endangers the foundations of the legal state," the reverend said.
The leader of the diocese emphasized that the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church has been and remains the only pillar of identity, survival and moral resistance of the Armenian people for thousands of years. The Church has never been ruled by political whims, but has always defended truth, justice and human dignity.

According to him, today we are witnessing attempts to degrade sanctity, to violate the church order and to leave criminally prosecuted acts unpunished.

He also called on the faithful people and devoted clergy not to give in to provocations, but also never to give up the truth, to remain peaceful but firm, patient but uncompromising.
"And the blasphemy, no matter how temporarily it is covered with an official veil, is condemned before history and the righteous judgment of God," declared the leader of the diocese.
