The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia informs: From January 1, 2026, according to the Law of Georgia "On Tourism", health and accident insurance is mandatory for all tourists entering Georgia.
Every tourist entering Georgia is obliged to present a document on the availability of insurance, in physical or electronic form, written in Georgian or English. The insurance document can be provided by both Georgian and international insurance companies, and the insurance amount must be at least 30,000 GEL. Insurance coverage should include the following: •
Parties to the insurance contract
• Coverage area
• Subject of insurance
• Insurance period start and end dates
• Insured risks
• Sum insured amount
• Amount of insurance premium, place of payment and term.
The insurance must be valid from the time the tourist enters Georgia until his departure, during the entire period of his stay in the country.
