Great Britain is following the situation created around the Armenian Apostolic Church and expects that the actions of the Armenian authorities will comply with the constitutional and legal frameworks, stated the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Kingdom, Jenny Chapman.

"Great Britain is following the situation between the Armenian government and the Armenian Apostolic Church. We expect that all actions will comply with the constitutional and legal frameworks of Armenia, with the observance of legal procedure and ensuring fair treatment for all persons in accordance with the law, as well as with transparent and impartial judicial processes," he said, according to RIA Novosti.

The Deputy Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs added that "the UK government remains firmly committed to protecting the rights of freedom of religion and belief around the world. Ministers and officials regularly discuss a number of issues with our Armenian colleagues," Chapman said in a written response to the question of Christopher Chessan, bishop of the Anglican Church of the Sutherland region of London and a member of the House of Lords (upper house) of the British Parliament.
