The Black Sea should not be considered as an arena for settling scores. It will not benefit either Russia or Ukraine. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told journalists about this after returning from Ashgabat, where he participated in the International Peace and Trust Forum, Anadolu reports.

The President of Turkey reminded that he had a meeting with the President of Russia Vladimir Putin within the framework of the forum held in Ashgabat.

"In the conversation with Putin, we noted that we positively evaluate the dialogue initiated by US President Donald Trump, we evaluated the contribution that our country can make to peace efforts," Erdogan said.

According to him, the main topic of the negotiations was the conflict and peace efforts.

"Like all the involved parties, Mr. Putin is well aware of Turkey's position on the issue," Erdogan said.

At the same time, he expressed hope that after the meeting with Putin, there will be an opportunity to discuss the peace plan with US President Trump.

"Peace is not far, we see it," Erdogan expressed confidence.

The head of Turkey also drew attention to the situation in the Black Sea basin.

"The Black Sea should not be considered as an arena for settling scores. This will not benefit either Russia or Ukraine. Everyone needs safe navigation in the Black Sea," he said.
