Iran detained a foreign ship carrying 6 million liters of contraband fuel in the Gulf of Oman, Mehr news agency reported, the country's authorities said.
It is stated that the vessel operated without valid sea travel documents or fuel document. Authorities added that all navigation and support systems on board the ship were intentionally disabled.
According to an official of the judiciary, the crew of the oil tanker consisted of 18 people, among whom were citizens of India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
