A new magnetic storm is approaching Earth

According to the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IKI), there is a 96% chance that the December 9 G2.7 class magnetic storm will reach Earth on Tuesday.

Scientists note that on December 9, the magnetosphere will remain in the state of a magnetic storm all day. The main peak will be from 10:00 to 19:00 Yerevan time.

On November 15, scientists recorded a "planetary-scale" magnetic storm on Earth for the second year in a row, for the first time in 20 years of observations.

After a long break, a G5 class magnetic storm was recorded in May 2024. In 2025, an extremely strong magnetic storm was observed on November 12, which reached the highest level of G5 with a disturbance magnitude of 8.67.
