In September 2025, the fleet of Turkish owners increased by another 2.2% year-on-year, ranking 10th in the world.
However, industry representatives warn that this growth cannot be sustained unless modernization of the aging fleet of small cargo ships is started as soon as possible. They emphasize that it is important not to lose the possibility of financing offered by the World Bank after about 70 years.
