Vance called the belief that measures taken against Russia would allow Kiev to win an illusion

US Vice President JD Vance has stated that increasing military aid to Ukraine and tightening sanctions against Russia will give Kiev the opportunity to win the conflict, it is an illusion.

"There is an illusion that if we just give more money, more weapons, or apply more sanctions, victory will be within our grasp.

Peace will not be achieved by failed diplomats or politicians who live in a world of illusions. Smart people living in the real world can do that," he wrote in X, referring to the new American settlement program in Ukraine.

According to Vance, "any criticism of the administration's peace plan is either a misunderstanding of it or a distortion of important realities on the ground."
