News 24: The US seeks to participate in the transition phase of the G20 presidency

The US Embassy in South Africa has requested accreditation for a team of staff, led by the chargé d'affaires, to attend Saturday's opening ceremony of the G20 summit to hand over the G20 presidency from South Africa to the United States.

This was reported by the local news portal News 24, referring to the letter received from the US Embassy to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Africa.

Representatives of the US Embassy will not participate in any other meeting or working session of the G20 summit, the publication notes.

The letter requests seven embassy employees to enter the summit area, where the handover of the presidency is scheduled for November 23. The group is led by Chargé d'affaires Mark Dillard.
