There can be no excuse for Armenia not participating in COP29 in Baku. Siranush Sahakyan

"Armenia's participation in COP29 to be held in Baku is very important," Siranush Sahakyan, head of the Center for International and Comparative Law, representative of the interests of Armenian prisoners at the ECHR, said during the press conference.

He noted that COP29 is not an Azerbaijani event, it is a UN event where the most important issues related to environmental protection are discussed, issues related to human rights are under the spotlight. there can be no excuse just because the event is hosted in Azerbaijan. Let's also not forget that Armenia politically supported the holding of this event in Azerbaijan.

That's why there is no explanation why there is a need to boycott. It is another matter that we can consider the raising of problems related to Armenians as a factor of the effectiveness of participation," said S. Sahakyan.

According to him, Armenia, being present at this event, should help the international community to be well informed about the events, violations and through diplomatic work to achieve a tougher response from the international community itself.

"This is an important platform for doing the right work," S. Sahakyan said.
