Drones will be used to protect railways in eastern Poland

To ensure railway safety in Poland, it is planned to use drones and patrol locomotives, a representative of the Polish state railway company RKP told money.pl online portal.

The drones will fly a few hundred meters in front of passenger and freight trains and scan the tracks from above, notifying locomotive crews of any problems.

The source of the portal noted that "NKR still does not have such reconnaissance drones, and their acquisition will take some time."

Therefore, to ensure the safety of railway transport, patrol locomotives will now be used, which will start running regularly on the main routes.

Patrol train drivers will be able to immediately detect rail damage and notify the dispatcher, who will then notify all nearby train crews of the emergency.
