Armenia is one of the most popular destinations for Russians to spend New Year holidays. Aleksan Mkrtchyan, vice-president of the "Alliance of Tourist Agencies" association, informed RIA Novosti about this, "Sputnik Armenia" reports.
"As for the former republics of the USSR, Belarus naturally has no competitors here. Then Abkhazia, Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan come with a big difference," answered the vice-president of the association to the question of which countries Russians choose for their New Year's holidays.
He explained that the choice of more distant countries depends on the original place of residence: eastern or western Russia. For example, residents of the European part of Russia choose Egypt, UAE, Thailand, China and Vietnam for the New Year holidays.
And those living in Siberia and the Far East choose China, Thailand and Vietnam.
