A volcano erupted in Indonesia

The Semeru volcano erupted in the East Java province of Indonesia, emitting an ash column 800 meters high, reports "Voice of Indonesia" with reference to local officials.

"The eruption of Mount Semeru took place on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at 6:11 a.m. West Indonesia time (2:11 a.m. Moscow time)," the volcano's observatory said in a statement.

The eruption produced an ash plume about 800 meters above the volcano's summit (4,476 meters above sea level). The volcano is currently assigned two danger levels.

The public is advised to refrain from activities within a three-kilometer radius of the Semeru Crater due to the risk of ejecting hot rocks.
