The leader of the Turkish Nationalist Movement Party, Devlet Bahceli, announced that the trial of the arrested former mayor of Istanbul, Ekrem Imamoglu, should be broadcast live on all the country's TV channels.
"The trial should be broadcast live on all TV channels, including the state TRT. The Turkish people should see and know what is happening," Bahceli said in the parliament at the session of his party's faction.
According to one of the allies of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's ruling bloc, "the opportunity to watch live the trial of [corruption] charges against Istanbul Municipality" will help strengthen "faith in democracy" in the country.
Earlier, Imamoglu suggested that his trial be broadcast live on Turkish television.
