Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced the creation of a closed military zone along a part of the border with Egypt. He said that this is aimed at preventing the smuggling of weapons across the border using drones.
"I have instructed the Israel Defense Forces to declare the area adjacent to the Israeli-Egyptian border a closed military zone and to change the rules of engagement accordingly to combat the drone threat to state security," Katz wrote on his X page.
The minister added that he has reached an agreement with the head of the General Security Service, David Zini, regarding the decision to recognize the smuggling of weapons by means of drones as a "terrorist threat".
