In order to protect democracy in Georgia, it is necessary to ban several opposition parties, because these political forces are against Georgian statehood and do not recognize the current government. Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced this to journalists.
"This is an important issue for our country. You see that our country and its political system are going in circles. There is a criminal group, a foreign agent, that is stalking the country.
By their nature, these are anti-democratic, anti-constitutional forces that always seek to overthrow the country's constitutional order. In such conditions, of course, the democratic system must protect itself," said Kobakhidze.
Earlier, the ruling "Georgian Dream - Democratic Georgia" party submitted a lawsuit to the Constitutional Court of the country, demanding to ban the "United National Movement" party of former president Mikheil Saakashvili, as well as the "Coalition for Changes" and "Strong Georgia" political groups.
