Sweden will hold NATO anti-submarine warfare exercises in the Baltic Sea on November 10-14, the press service of the Swedish Armed Forces announced.
According to the announcement, the exercises "will become one of NATO's regular exercises starting in the fall of 2026." During the exercise, the Swedish servicemen will "share their knowledge in this area with the alliance".
The press release notes that the uneven rocky bottom and saltwater of variable salinity make the Swedish seabed "an ideal submarine hideout".
It is this, the press release explains, that has prompted the Royal Navy to develop anti-submarine warfare capabilities tailored to these challenging conditions.
