In an interview with Breitbart, US Permanent Representative to the United Nations Mike Waltz accused the UN peacekeeping missions of not fulfilling their mandates.
"UN peacekeepers are scattered all over the world, some of these peacekeeping missions have been there for 30, 40, 50 years. It is obvious that they are not doing their job," said Waltz. As the American diplomat noted, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres agreed to reduce peacekeeping missions around the world by 25%.
According to him, the US goal in this matter is to return the UN to its main mission, which Waltz described as preventing a new world war and strengthening peace around the world.
