At least 20 people, including women and children, were killed and 20 others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck in the Indian state of Telangana, state authorities said.
"About 20 people have died, about 20 are being treated in hospital, three of them are seriously injured," Telangana state transport minister Ponnam Prabhakar told NDTV.
According to police spokesman Mahesh Bhagwat, initial reports indicated that the driver of a dump truck loaded with gravel over-speeded and collided with the bus. After the incident, stones filled the bus, preventing passengers from escaping and complicating rescue operations.
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed condolence over the accident and directed officials to immediately reach the spot and take necessary measures to provide relief.
