Maduro asked Russia for help amid tensions with the United States

Citing internal US government documents, the Washington Post claims that Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro allegedly requested military aid from Russia, China and Iran in October amid US threats to strike the country.

According to the publication, Maduro requested the supply of missiles, radars and modernized aircraft in connection with the concentration of American forces in the Caribbean region.

The Washington Post claims that the Venezuelan president sent a letter to Russian leaders in which he also asked Moscow to help strengthen his country's air defenses, including restoring several Russian fighter jets previously acquired by Venezuela.
