US Energy Secretary Chris Wright has announced that the country's goal is to return to trade talks with Canada after negotiations failed last week.
"I think we will see cooperation between the United States and Canada on key minerals, oil and gas," Bloomberg quoted him as saying. Wright also emphasized that the differences between the two countries arose for "good reasons". On October 23, US President Donald Trump announced that Washington had suspended trade talks with Ottawa because Canadian officials had paid for advertising in the United States criticizing tariffs on US imports.
As the media reported earlier this month, Ontario, Canada's main industrial region, launched an advertising campaign on American television aimed at canceling Trump's tariffs. This included the airing of advertisements in American media that included excerpts from a speech by Ronald Reagan, the 40th president of the United States, criticizing the tariffs and advocating the principles of free trade.
