The United States will not send senior officials to the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), Reuters reported on Friday, citing a White House spokesman.
"The United States will not send a delegation to the COP30 in Brazil," the source of the agency said, noting that the concerns of world leaders about possible attempts by Washington to disrupt the negotiations are unfounded.
According to Reuters, the importance of the climate agenda in the US administration is currently being reviewed. A White House spokesman cited a memo released this week by Bill Gates, in which the billionaire climate investor said humanity "shouldn't just focus on limiting global warming" because climate change "will not lead to the end of humanity."
