Fears of long-term and irreversible damage to European industry from trade disputes have prompted Brussels to take a more conciliatory stance in the standoff, emphasizing engagement and dialogue rather than punitive measures, the publication said.
However, Chinese officials objected to the "slow and uncoordinated pace" of negotiations with the EU. As a result, according to Jeremy Chan, a senior analyst at the Eurasia Group consulting firm, China has dropped Europe from its list of priorities.
