Hungary is aiming to get exemptions from US sanctions against Russian energy companies in order to continue buying oil and gas from Russia, the Hungarian Prime Minister's Chief of Staff, Gergely Gulyas, announced.
"Our goal is for Hungary to get some relief from US sanctions so that purchases of Russian natural gas and crude oil can continue," Gulyas said at a government briefing.
According to him, Hungary is interested in US President Donald Trump continuing to adhere to his previously expressed position that Hungary is in a special situation because it "does not have a land connection and does not have enough oil to supply the country."
