China intends to cooperate with all countries to promote nuclear disarmament

Chinese authorities will work with all interested countries to promote the process of global nuclear disarmament, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said.

"China, as a permanent member of the UN Security Council and a responsible nuclear-weapon state, consistently follows the path of peaceful development and pursues a policy of non-first use of nuclear weapons.

"Strictly follows an appropriate self-defense strategy, maintains its nuclear arsenal at the minimum level necessary to ensure national security, and strictly observes the moratorium on nuclear tests," he said at a briefing, commenting on the recent visit of Robert Bruce Floyd, Executive Secretary of the Preparatory Commission of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBT), to the PRC, which took place from October 20 to 25.
