In Germany, more than 500,000 birds were destroyed due to bird flu

More than 500,000 chickens, ducks, geese and turkeys have been destroyed in 30 agricultural farms in Germany due to the risk of bird flu infection, NTV TV channel reports with reference to representatives of the Federal Veterinary Institute named after Friedrich Loeffler (FLI).

According to FLI, since the beginning of September of this year, 31 outbreaks of H5N1 bird flu have been recorded on farms in Germany. Most of them were registered in Lower Saxony, Brandenburg and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. However, cases of infection were also recorded in other regions of the country.

"The bird flu situation is currently changing so fast that the numbers show the scale rather than the exact data," the FLI representative said in his speech.
