US President Donald Trump has stated that he does not want to meet with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, because his country has "deceived" the United States for a long time.
"Canada has lied to us for a long time and it is one of the most difficult countries to do a deal with. As much as I love Canada and its people, it's just had a very bad rep," Trump told reporters on his plane to Japan. The broadcast was live on the White House YouTube channel.
The US president added that he "will not meet with Carney for some time" because of the advertisement featuring former US President Ronald Reagan and his criticism of American trade policy.
