Lithuania has announced the opening of road checkpoints on the border with Belarus

Lithuania has resumed transit transport at border road checkpoints with Belarus, which were closed after the detection of smugglers' weather balloons. This was announced by the State Border Guard Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Baltic Republic.

"The decision to reopen Medininka and Shalcininka checkpoints was made after assessing the security situation and taking into account the information about the incident involving the balloons used for cigarette smuggling," the text states.

On the night of October 25, about 90 planes were found crossing the border from Belarus to Lithuania. Therefore, the international airports of Vilnius and Kaunas, as well as the checkpoints of Medininka and Shalcininka, were closed.
