US President Donald Trump believes that Russian President Vladimir Putin wants to settle the conflict in Ukraine.
"I think Putin wants this to be over," Trump told reporters on his plane. The American leader is leaving for an Asian tour, during which he will visit Malaysia, Japan and the Republic of Korea.
Trump was also asked if he was afraid that the anti-Russian sanctions imposed by Washington might be too severe.
"I don't think so. Putin says that the restrictions will not have much effect. I don't think he is right, but we will see," answered the president.
Earlier, the US Ministry of Finance included "Rosneft", "Lukoil" and 34 subsidiaries of these companies in the new package of anti-Russian sanctions.
