Venezuela, together with the peoples of South America, will prevent the war that the United States wants to unleash in the region, President Nicolás Maduro announced on Venezolana de Televisión.
Despite official declarations of refusal to participate in military conflicts, preparations are being made for a possible military intervention, which must be prevented, Maduro said. He suggested "asking the American people if they are in favor of a war with Venezuela, Colombia and the Caribbean."
Maduro emphasized that the US administration is planning operations against Venezuela under the false pretext of fighting illegal drug trafficking, because it cannot accuse the republic of possessing weapons of mass destruction, missiles aimed at American cities, or nuclear, chemical and biological weapons.
The President stated that "Venezuela is a country that is completely free from drug trafficking, coca crops and cocaine production."
