Currently, there are about 20 terrorist groups in Afghanistan, said Armands Pupols, adviser of the UN Central Asia Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy.
"We have to be very careful with the numbers, but the prevailing opinion is that there are currently approximately 20 terrorist groups in Afghanistan," he said at a briefing on counter-terrorism and extremism initiatives supported by UN agencies.
Pupols noted that there are signs of improvement in the security situation in Afghanistan, but he noted that unpredictability remains in this matter.
