The Washington administration is ready to meet with Russian officials if such contacts will contribute to the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced this to journalists on October 22.
"We still want to meet with the Russian side," he said. "I had a good phone conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov."
"And we will continue to work on that basis," added the Secretary of State.
"We will always be interested in contacts if there is an opportunity to reach peace," Rubio emphasized, referring to the settlement of the Ukraine issue.
