Polling stations for parliamentary elections have opened in Georgia. Voting will take place from 08:00 (07:00 Moscow time) to 20:00 (19:00 Moscow time).
Citizens of Georgia will be able to vote in 3111 polling stations, 67 of which will be opened abroad. In total, about 3.5 million voters are registered. A record number of citizens living outside Georgia, more than 95 thousand people, can participate in the elections.
The current elections are the first to use electronic ballot boxes, which are installed in 74% of polling stations.
The CEC is expected to begin publishing the first voting results within two hours of polls closing. Immediately after the end of the voting, the local TV channels plan to announce the results of the exit poll.
The main competitors of "Georgian Dream" are four opposition parties: "Unity - National Movement", "Gakharia for Georgia" of former Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia, "Strong Georgia" and "Coalition of Changes".
These four parties plan to form a coalition government if, in general, they get more mandates than "Georgian Dream".
